William Hauxwell has a degree in Human Sciences from Oxford University and a degree in Osteopathic medicine from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has been in practice for 23 years. During that time he has taught clinical osteopathy in Ireland and the UK.

William Hauxwell has taught Clinical Osteopathy at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Stillorgan Institute of Physical Therapy and the Irish College of Osteopathic Medicine.
William runs a course entitled “The structural basis of lower back and pelvic pain and how to fix it”. The course focuses on a re-appraisal of the palpation, manipulation and significance of sacroiliac joints.
William has created the website structuralbackpain.com which contains all the key information contained in the course. The information revolves around 3 unique points.
1. Osteopaths and other manipulators have only been palpating half the sacroiliac joint. This recently discovered part of the sacroiliac joint plays a very important role in pelvic pain and lower back pain.
2. Standard osteopathic techniques do not cavitate the sacroiliac joint sufficiently to clear the restriction in the sacroiliac joint and hence do not produce clinically significant results.
3. A large proportion of lower back pain is secondary to structural problems in the pelvis.
The course and website explores these assertions with respect to anatomy, biomechanics, patho-physiology, assessment and technique.
